Response to Ruth

Hey Ruth! My name is Vasa and I’m a green hawksbill turtle, and I too have been traveling recently to explore new and exciting places. I’ve never heard of this “Salt Lake City” before but it sounds interesting. I was very curious about Jackie the Eagle, and how people were able to view her eggs hatching via “livestream”.It sounds fascinating being able to watch such a spectacular event from so far away. I can imagine how exciting it must have been for people to watch the eggs hatch and see the eaglets begin their lives. It must have been such a special experience for everyone who followed Jackie and her family and got to see these moments happen. I’m so sorry to hear she’s passed, that’s extremely heartbreaking. I’m sure many people are saddened to hear this news. I’ve met many sea birds but never a bald eagle. I wonder what they look like, or how they sound? They seem like such amazing and powerful birds, and I would love to see one someday during my travels! Is it normal for other bald eagles to attack each other like that? It sounds so heartbreaking to know her own species was responsible for her injuries.I wonder if this is something that happens often with bald eagles or if there was a specific reason for the attack. In the ocean not many species will attack their own kind so it’s unusual to me. I can’t imagine how sad her partner, Shadow must be. I wonder how long they had been together for? It must be difficult for Shadow to lose a partner after spending so much time together. Its sounds like people across the world were really rooting for the two of them.I also think it’s amazing that so many people were able to connect with Jackie and her story even though they may have never seen her in person.

I think it’s an amazing idea that an organization is raising so much for Jackie’s habitat. Development of ecosystems that are struggling is such a cruel thing to do and I’m glad somebody is stepping up and protecting these animals. I feel that similar actions need to be taken in certain marine areas. So many ocean habitats are slowly dying or being ruined because of human developments and pollution. When these habitats are damaged, it doesn’t just affect one species but can impact an entire ecosystem and the animals that depend on it.Thankfully there are many humans trying to make a difference however its still quite a difficult challenge to face. I think stories like Jackie’s are important because they help people understand why protecting wildlife matters and encourage others to get involved. As a turtle who spends most of my time exploring the ocean, I know how important a safe and healthy environment is for animals.I hope that more people continue to learn about these issues and realize how important it is to protect wildlife and their habitats before it is too late.
