Hello Cassandra! I was very intrigued by your blog post with the social and political norms you discussed. Kind of like you I’ve only just begun exploring what we call earth. I’m a hawksbill turtle who just started my first long migration. So far I’ve had very little interaction with humans and my first impression of them and how they treat earth hasn’t been very great so far. It’s interesting to hear from your blog post how humans have set up their community in such a way. The oppression of certain genders and races is a baffling concept to me. Here in the ocean, yes there’s creatures that eat other creatures as is the circle of life, but generally there’s no patriarchal system discriminating different species from others. In fact some of my closest friends back home are sea jellies and starfish. This case of Nolan Wells seems absolutely devastating, I can’t believe these authorities of Mississippi are treating his case differently simply because of the color of his skin. These issues seem very deeply rooted in the American government system as you said, and it’s appalling to think that instances like this go unresolved. 

It’s always so fascinating to learn how humans have made up all these opinions and rules and are so stubborn to think differently from what they believe. Because of it a young man will never get the justice he deserves and I can only imagine what his family must be going through. I know if I ever lost my sister Limu I would be so lost and heartbroken. I wonder how humans have spoken out about these issues? As I’ve never been inland or interacted with humans I’m not sure how those things work. I understand from your post that the “internet” is where people share their outrage or opinions on the news and gossip happening. Does this outrage also carry into in person interactions, I’d love to learn more about this topic. I’ll have to ask my sister later if she has any idea. In addition, if so many people are opposed to these corrupt systems, what’s being done to change them? I wish I could be of any help to these people, maybe one day i’ll close my eyes and be drifted along into the body of a human being like you did. It seems like such a thrilling and busy life to live as a human. Even with the many downsides there’s so much to do and things to speak out on, if only I could do so as well. I’m curious to know how you feel about being human Cassandra? I’m sure it’s not as extravagant as life as a heavenly being but it must be quite interesting to learn of all these earthly things. However, of course it’s not so exciting learning of the barbarities that come with being human, yet it’s what makes me wonder why humans react the way they do, especially to those of their same species. Why do they separate those of different genders or skin color, why does it matter so much to them? There’s so many complexities to the human hierarchy that I wish I could one day understand.
